Bulletin #10 from the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III:
Recently, it has been seen in various places that people's views
must be corrected. Even after people have listened respectfully to the
recorded series of dharma lessons discoursed by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha
III, some Buddhist disciples still do not have a clear understanding
about the concept of the qualifications of a master. They are misled by
evil views and became quite worried. That means these people did not
understand the dharma discourses they listened to and need to put more
efforts in strengthening their comprehension of the essence of the
dharma. Otherwise they risk the consequence of taking the wrong path.
1. There are only two simplest criteria for measuring whether a
cultivator is a true holy virtuous one or not. One is whether he
conforms to the rules of the 128 views or not. The other is to see if he
possesses holy realization power. Regardless of which country one is
in, which sect one belongs to, how high one's title in Buddhism is, and
how great a reputation one displays, not meeting these two criteria
simply means he can never be a holy virtuous one. Even when judging the
disciples of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III whose names are listed in the
treasure book H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, the same criteria
must be applied. If one does not meet these two criteria, he can never
be a holy virtuous one. This is where we should be particularly careful.
Some people mistakenly think that the venerable ones, dharma kings,
rinpoches and dharma masters whose names are listed in the treasure book
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, and who are disciples of H.H.
Dorje Chang Buddha III should comprise, categorically, the upper-level
disciples of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. This is a total
misunderstanding. In fact, due to the causes and affinities in the
process of collecting information by the publisher, many disciples of
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III who are at the levels of great holy virtuous
ones and who possess holy realization power were omitted from inclusion
in the treasure book. However, these venerable ones, dharma kings,
rinpoches and dharma masters possess certificates personally signed by
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and stamped with the finger-print seal of
H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.
2. Even a person who has transformed from a mundane being into a
holy virtuous one may not necessarily possess the up-to-standard
qualifications of a master. The qualifications of a master are an
independent state of realization and belong to rules and standards of
teaching Buddhism to people that must be abided. No deviation can be
permitted in that. Holy virtuous realization does not guarantee one’s
meeting the standards of teaching. Even among great holy virtuous ones
who attained the realization of Vajra Body Substitution Meditation, some
still do not possess the state of realization of setting up a mandala.
Therefore, the standards of measuring the qualifications of a master are
unique and iron-clad. No change or exception is allowed. These
standards are called the six holy measurements of the qualifications of a
master. Whenever the qualifications of a holy virtuous master are
addressed, regardless of which sect, what identity, or recognition by
anyone or any organization, the determination of the level of a holy
virtuous master’s qualifications must be verified by the six holy
measurements, in order to distinguish between the Highest Level of Holy
Realization, the Middle Level of Holy Realization, the Beginning Level
of Holy Realization, as well as any level of masters in exoteric
schools. Such classification plays a deterministic role in different
forms of initiations and dharma teaching and is a vital lifeline to the
disciple’s liberation and accomplishment. Regardless of whom one is and
any great supernormal power, wisdom, scholarly knowledge, and linage of
dharma he may possess, except the verification by the six holy
measurements, none of these can represent the state of realization in
master’s qualifications. This has been stipulated very clearly in the Introductory Guide to The Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation That Must Be Understood."
3. We like to remind you all once more to pay attention to an important principle, which has been addressed many times already in different ways. That is: regardless what identity one possesses and what he declares, as long as he does not present a letter of authorization stamped with the finger-print seal of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the signature of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, all statements and deeds of this person are all just his own acts that have nothing whatsoever to do with H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. All illegal violations and disturbances should not be committed by true Buddhists. You all must observe carefully. Stay away and depart from anything that does not benefit living beings. Support all that benefit living beings.
